The Brief.

Made Brave came to The Gate to produce and direct two visually exciting films for educational innovators,  ScreenSpace, to promote their new online BA (Hons) Content, Media & Film Production degree course.

ScreenSpace is an innovative new educational space, created by The University of West London and MetFilm; the company behind MetFilm School, MetFilm Production, MetFilm Sales & MetFilm Creative. Launching in October 2018, this new space will be dedicated to leading screen production education for the connected generation, challenging students to discover their creative voice, develop screen skills and launch creative careers.

The Mission.

ScreenSpace’s mission is to provide unique educational courses and space, challenging students to discover their creative voice, develop screen skills and launch creative careers. To launch this offering with a bang, the creatives at Made Brave called us in to produce two films to appeal to potential students of the BA (Hons) Content, Media & Film Production degree course. The films aimed at all ages needed to challenge the audiences presumption of what is attainable in the creative industries.

What We Did.

A challenging quick turnaround timeframe and budget – no biggie for The Gate. We pulled in crowds of extras, secured a great band – The Reckid – used one of our favourite Manchester music venues – The Deaf Institute – as well as our beloved Foundry Film Studios, to bring together a melting pot of talent that saw us shoot both 30s adverts over one day.

A mixture of Steadicam, cleverly positioned green screen, 3D hologram modelling, fiddly tracking and graphics work brought each film to life. All post work was completed in-house at The Gate Films.

The Result.

We have visually-exciting, sensory-tingling films that pack a punch and put ScreenSpace on the map for being an enticing Higher Education provider for creatives. The films target two groups of prospective students, the media-savvy Insta-Vlogger and the tech-focused AR Show Producer. The blend of live-music and exciting aesthetics give each film a common-thread while being relatable to two very different groups of students.

Using moving perspective, whip-pan and single Steadicam footage – the audience is engrossed in the live-action and right there living the career dream with their peers.  Engagement is mounting with over 5K views in one week. We can’t wait to hear back from Made Brave and ScreenSpace on the student uptake as a result of the campaign.

“Working with The Gate was a seamless experience. It was a genuinely exciting collaboration between two creative agencies. From our initial concept and storyboard, their team’s production expertise helped add a further dimension to our story and bring the idea to life in a more meaningful way. It was a fun experience bringing it all together and we’re absolutely delighted with the end-result.”
