The Market Creative came to the Gate with a mission. Find a range of animals who can do extraordinary things, and ordinary things and shoot them on a one day shoot for TV, VOD, online and gather a bank of impressive stills on the way. As avid lovers of both animals and a good challenge, we rolled up our sleeves and set to work.
The Gate needed to be poised to capture the animals’ performances at the moments that mattered. This was key to capturing the authenticity of their behaviour – we didn’t want anything to look too staged. This was no small feat considering we had 17 different animals, each with different nuances and personalities that we had to adapt to in a short timescale.
Team Gate combed the country to find the UK’s best animals. X-Factor for pets if you will. We tested performances and refined our search to 17 super pets. This included some back-up animals to ensure we had a contingency plan on shoot. We ensured that art department was simple, yet stylish, in line with Webbox brand and identity. We ran a tightly scheduled shoot at our studios to allow for spontaneity and improvisation from the animals.
The Gate delivered one 30’ second, three 10’ second edits and stills from a wealth of footage that was captured across the shoot. The ‘Webbox Natural’ campaign is now launched across VoD channels and TV. Social activity has also started to roll out and the stills captured on shoot will be used throughout all marketing comms to support the campaign.
